As your one-stop-shop for custom metal stamping, tool and die expertise, and value-added services, Automation Tool & Die’s highly trained team of technical experts offers problem-solving support and precision products that are delivered reliably, on time and within budget.
ATD’s one-stop-shop model is possible because of our 105,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that was built in 2015. We’re equipped to handle your product needs from start to finish because we purpose-built our building from the ground up, designing the layout specifically for streamlined processes that ultimately benefit our customers.
From the initial planning stages and the materials chosen to the final phases of construction, find out how ATD’s headquarters in Valley City, Ohio, was designed for efficiency, cost savings, and better metal stamping and tool & die solutions.
Planning & Design
ATD’s leadership created our facility’s layout specifically for streamlined processes, enhanced capabilities, and greater efficiency. Since we were starting from scratch, the ATD team was able to envision what our dream design would be, and then incorporate those features into the project. We did this by:
- Working with architects and engineers to design a facility that maximizes efficiency and productivity while allowing room for growth.
- Using our software expertise to create 3D modeling and simulations to optimize the layout of the shop floor, focusing on engineering, quality and tooling areas.
- Building the facility specifically for our production process: part design, building the tool, creating the part, and sending it to quality.
Materials & Equipment
To operate with greater efficiency — and pass those savings along to our customers — ATD chose high-quality materials and equipment that are both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. We also selected technology that would improve efficiency in the manufacturing process. This includes the following:
- Motion sensor lighting.
- Air-conditioned spaces for precise temperature control, including the tool room.
- Air exchangers and ceiling fans in the tool room (air is refreshed every 30 minutes, which reduces the normal toxicity of the equipment and materials).
- An underground scrap collection system that utilizes conveyors to remove scrap.
Construction & Implementation
Once plans for the new facility had been finalized, ATD was able to continue its operations without disruptions to business during the construction process. We also planned to meet future business needs.
Our new facility was built while operations continued at ATD’s former building.
The new building was positioned on ATD’s 25-acre property with the capability to expand in three directions.
Benefits for Customers
ATD’s state-of-the-art facility not only enhances our processes and improves our quality, but it also benefits our customers — and is likely a contributing factor to the 100% customer retention rate we’ve achieved over the last decade.
